Player ratings:

David Raya 8/10

Yet another clean sheet, featuring a spectacular save to deny Julio Enciso’s long-range effort.

Oleksandr Zinchenko 7/10

Targeted by Brighton’s attacking play but helped Arsenal keep a fourth consecutive clean sheet in all competitions.

Gabriel 8/10

Celebrated a late block with his team-mates to the delight of the travelling fans- fantastic to see. Should have scored early on, heading a free-kick wide.

William Saliba 8/10

Brilliantly dummied a Brighton attacker in his own box at one point. Continues to make defending look easy alongside his partner Gabriel.

Ben White 7.5/10

Returned to his former club and left with all three points on his 100th Premier League appearance for Arsenal.

Declan Rice 7.5/10

Kept things ticking over in midfield as ever, given more room to create playing alongside Jorginho.

Jorginho 7/10

Cut the ball back for Kai Havertz to score Arsenal’s key second goal.

Martin Odegaard 7.5/10

Excellent in midfield, as he always is. Will lead his side against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night in the Champions League!

Gabriel Jesus 7.5/10

Dropped deep to open up space for others in a versatile display. Won the penalty after being tripped by Tariq Lamptey inside the box.

Kai Havertz 8.5/10

Assisted Leandro Trossard’s goal after scoring himself, sparking that Shakira-inspired chant in the away end. Full of confidence and in good goalscoring form.

Bukayo Saka 7/10

Dispatched a first-half penalty to put Arsenal in front, and was replaced with 25 minutes to go by Gabriel Martinelli.

Gabriel Martinelli (Sub, 64’) 7/10

An excellent impact player for Arsenal to utilise. Probably the last player the Brighton defenders would have wanted to see come on just after going 2-0 down.

Leandro Trossard (Sub, 64’) 7.5/10

Kept his composure to score against his former side having been booed by the home fans after coming on for Jesus. A very lively cameo.

Takehiro Tomiyasu (Sub, 72’)

Fabio Vieira (Sub, 89’)

Eddie Nketiah (Sub, 89’) /10

Subs not used: Aaron Ramsdale, Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe, Jakub Kiwior.
